Top 7 Vacation Destinations For Dogs

Top 7 Vacation Destinations For Dogs - Hemp Well

Looking to take your dog on a well deserved vacation? The top 7 destinations for dogs and their parents to travel as decided by some human.

Island time in the Pacific

The Hawaiian Islands are a one-stop shop for dogs and their parents looking to have a pet-friendly vacation. All of the islands have at least one dog park, and each has at least one hotel or rental property that welcomes pets at no additional cost. The islands are also easy to get to from the mainland. If you’re traveling from the western U.S., a trip to Hawaii is almost like going home!

Punalu`u beach on Hawaii island is a red gravel paradise for dogs who like to swim, and there are several splash parks in the state to keep water lovers cool. Hana bay and Lanai offer dog-friendly beaches where pups can play in the surf.

Consider dog friendly hotels in Hawaii  (we like the ones that offer pet sitting!) and pet friendly vacation rentals in Hawaii. Or find a dog friendly vacation rental in Hawaii and pack your bowls.

European adventures for dogs and their parents

Many European countries have more liberal pet policies than the US, allowing dogs in hotels, restaurants, and bars, as well as public transportation and tourist sites.

Camping and cabin life in the Rocky Mountains

The Rocky Mountains are a great destination for the adventurous, outdoorsy dog and his/her human parents. Our biggest problem was which trail to pick! There are so many great options, and many of them aren’t too difficult for even novice hikers with your dog in tow. Not a fan of camping? There are also several cabin options.

The Rockies are a mecca for outdoor adventure, and plenty of towns and campsites where the mountain range welcomes the mainland.

Adventures on the coast in North America

From Vancouver island all the way down to Mexico, the North American west coast is a fantastic destination for shoreline shenanigans. There are dog friendly beaches, dog friendly hotels, and plenty of places where you can cruise around on a boat with your dog hanging out the front doing his own doggy paddle.

Adventures in the Caribbean sea

Dog friendly beaches, dog friendly hotels, and boat adventures. The Caribbean is a great destination for water lovers and anyone who likes to chill in the sunshine (even if it’s not their first choice of activity).

Dog friendly Asia

With their love of food and food markets,  Asia is a great destination for dogs and their humans. Hang out at an outdoor restaurant and eat rice with your dog while you people watch. Visit a food market with your dog on a safety lead (and maybe a vest signifying that he’s friendly). Cruise through an open-air market with your human mom shopping for souvenirs while your  dog sniffs around. There are even a few dog friendly hotels in Asia if you need to kick back and relax.

Dog friendly Australia

Australia is another destination that’s great for dogs and their humans. There are dog friendly beaches (with doggie life vests provided), wonderful Australian food to gobble down, and some great national parks and hiking trails. And if you’re coming in the summer, check out the Margaret River Wine. Australia is a great destination for dogs and their humans.

Some things to consider before you both board the plane:

  • Gadgets such as GPS-equipped collars, portable water bowls, and collapsible crates make it much easier to travel with your pet.
  • Specialized pet carriers should also be considered for smaller dogs or cats to keep them safe and secure while traveling.
  • There are also a number of stores offering personalized items for your furry friend such as ID tags, sweaters, collars and leashes.
