Hemp Oil For Dogs

Non psychoactive hemp oil and it's properties may help your dog.

There are two types of receptors that cannabinoids can bind to and create an effect on; CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the central nervous system, and help regulate mood, anxiety, and alertness. CB2 receptors are primarily found in the peripheral nervous system, and influence the immune system, pain, and inflammation. Because of hemp's widespread and numerous effects, these receptors play an important role in maintaining health.

Plant-Based Cannabinoids

The CB1 and CB2 receptors may also be bound by plant-based cannabinoids found in nature. The most famous of these, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is responsible for the “high” marijuana users feel, cannabidiol (CBD) produces no “high,” but is responsible the lion’s share of health benefits associated with medical marijuana and hemp. There are many more cannabinoids, such as CBN, CBC, THCV, etc, but they’re less medically important than the big two: THC and CBD. Hemp as a Legal Source for CBD The Agricultural Act of 2014 allows hemp to be legally cultivated in America. To qualify as hemp, the plant may only contain trace amounts of THC (>0.3%), but there are no limits on the amount of CBD that a hemp plant may possess. This non-psychoactive hemp makes it possible to enjoy all of CBD’s health benefits without running afoul of the law.

Hemp Health for Pets

Plant-based cannabinoids like CBD have the potential to help pets in the same ways that they can help humans maintain health, but not all CBD products are equal. Because of important physiological differences between humans and other animals, pet owners should only purchase products specifically designed for animals. Certain compounds present within human grade hemp products may be harmful to some animals.
