5 Things To Know Before Giving Your Pet CBD

5 Things To Know Before Giving Your Pet CBD

If you're considering giving CBD to your pet, there are a few things you need to take into account. Here are the five most important considerations for using CBD for pets. Dog Moms, Cat Ladies, Bird Dads and Hippophiles, consider these points before giving your pet CBD.

Where is the product sourced from?

How responsible is the company providing the hemp for your pet? Do they use filler oils? And, where are their farms located to make their products?

Many US States have adopted a QR code policy where manufacturers of CBD products have a code on each label that allows the customer to ensure product testing was done. Not only testing for active ingredients, but contaminants like lead and mold.

Hemp Well has maintained a reputation of transparency and 'doing the right thing' to ensure our pets health and business reputations are safe. Our US cultivators are some of the greatest farmers in the world. And our process ensures your confidence. View our PRODUCT ANALYSIS PORTAL >>

Soft Chew or Oil Form?

We all know how convenient a soft chew can be delivered versus a dropper under the tongue. Administered orally, hemp oil under the tongue will deliver more active ingredients (almost twice as much) than hemp oil digested in a chew form. Many pet parents are concerned about administering hemp oil orally. Hemp Well is available with a plastic eyedropper with graduated markings for safe and accurate dosing.

More active ingredients are absorbed if an oil form of CBD can be administered under the tongue rather than digested through the stomach. The bottom of your mouth and your dogs have thin skin. This offers a faster path for the CBD to enter the blood stream.

What About Filler Oils?

When you understand that hemp has a better omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acid ratio than fish, flax or krill oils, why would any manufacturer mix their CBD into a MCT or olive oil filler? The answer is simple; Companies using filler oils like MCT, coconut or olive oils are looking to save a buck. Hemp as a commodity is not cheap.

Hemp Well oils are just hemp. All of the omega and CBD benefits

How Much To Administer?

Understanding dosing can be a challenge. Reputable hemp companies (like Hemp Well) will maintain compliant dosage instructions with Warnings and Cautions. We also encourage you to speak with your pet's veterinarian before starting any supplement, like CBD.

All of our product labels and product listing pages have dosage instructions based upon your animal's weight. All pet supplements should do the same.

Dogs and cats have more cannabinoid receptors than humans. They require less CBD and will usually discharge additional cannabinoids. A little goes a long way! Start smaller and add more.

CBD Effects on Dogs

CBD can have different effects on dogs than it does on humans. While it's generally considered safe for humans, it's important to be aware of how your dog might react.

CBD Dose for Dogs

The dose of CBD you give your dog will depend on their weight and the severity of their condition. It's important to start with a low dose and increase gradually as needed.

Will CBD Heal My Pet?

No claim like that can or should be made by a hemp provider. While hemp is generally regarded as safe (nobody has died from it) no clinical studies have been conducted with pets.

All mammals, including us and your best friend, we all produce cannabinoids and have cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies. Hemp can be a tremendous source to supplement our bodies creation of cannabinoids. Hemp is not an FDA approved drug and cannot be considered safe or effective.
