Is THC Harmful To Your Pet?
THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is considered to be the main psychoactive compound in cannabis. There are 400 other compounds in the cannabis plant that offer benefits without the 'high'.
Does THC provide significant health benefits?
Yes. It may assist with a whole variety of things from pain relief, appetite stimulation and nerve disorders. But, I would not advise you to give your pet THC. Dogs and cats have more cannabinoid receptors than we do. They are extremely sensitive to THC and will likely suffer from what veterinarians describe as “marijuana poisoning.”
Pets will metabolize THC a lot slower than we can. Our three hour marijuana buzz can last up to 24 hours on your pet.
Some products marketed for humans will contain both THC and CBD. While this is a great alternative for us, I would stay away from any levels of THC for your best friend. Until further studies are conducted regarding the safe use of THC in pets, a CBD or cannabinoid rich hemp product may be the best alternative given the research already put forward.
Hemp Well products contain 0% THC and some of our products are rich in cannabinoids, like CBD. Hemp Well products will never get your pet high.
