Hello. I have a question and hopefully it’s not a concern. My dogs are on their 2nd bottle of the Hemp Well Omegas liquid pump. I noticed that the second bottle had a darker green color and has a stronger smell than the first bottle did. The first bottle was more of a lighter golden color. Is this something that I should be concerned about? It doesn’t seem to make my dogs sick but the dry flaky skin on my Doberman seems to have returned a little. That could be weather related but it’s too hard to tell. Is this normal to have noticeable difference in color and smell. Please let me know if I should disregard the second bottle. Thanks Amber
RESPONSE
Amber,
That is a great question. And one we have been asked before. We use the same hemp strain(s) from the same fields for that product, but, to keep freshness, our seeds are not cold pressed until just before it’s delivered to our customers. And, on occasion we process one different strain. It may be possible you purchased a bottle from two different crops.
We only source organic hemp from experienced farmers. The same farmers for years we trust with our reputation and your pet’s health.
We prefer smaller batches of the oil. When we paper filter, plant material can get into the oil. This can change the color. Nothing to be concerned with and could also account for the difference in your two bottles.
We rarely see a lot of variation. Your dog may have been lucky to get some extra plant material.
Many other hemp oils will use or even advertise ultra-refined. This, in our opinion is not a good or natural way for most plant based products. When you use organic processes and soil, ‘refining out‘ unwanted material is not much of an issue.
